I Need Speed, I Need Energy, I Need A Break
Out At The Pictures by Hot Chip
I picked this one cause theres a nice build up and then it goes straight into the heavy bit. Also cause its a bit less aggravating and more chill way of jumping into the energy of the rest of the play list.
It’s Time To Party by Andrew W.K.
What is a high energy anything without Andrew W.K.? He just kinda goes bat shit about partying and its just so heavy that you just might be ready for the next song, and its short so it acts a nice segway (if you like Andrew W.K.). I know he is kind of a joke, but personally I love him anyways.
Kill the Poor by Dead Kennedys
Here is where the energy starts to kick in, like a good cup of coffee. This is just a pissed as shit song and I figured it would fit in well to kick start the anger train.
Losing Friends by Death From Above 1979
Its Death From Above, enough said.
Kick Out The Jams by MC 5
What would the world be without this song? Its in your face and it damn well aint moving. Kick Out the Jams is a great pump up song, hence it is here.
Got This Thing On The Move by Grand Funk Railroad
I saw Colin put “We’re an American Band”, so I figured Grand Funk Railroad just might be the ticket. This is a great full throttle song, without too much rage, so its a minor break in this hour of awesome.
You Got It All… Wrong by The Hives
The Hives played tonight (9/16), and I have been listening to them. They are one of the few decent punk bands out there, and they have just enough pop appeal.
Fell In Love With A Girl by The White Stripes
Not all of the White Stripes songs go well with this PISSED AS HELL theme, but Fell In Love With A Girl is lovy dovy while still maintaining that energy and appeal that a good up beat song should.
Sound Check (Gravity) by Gorillaz
Now what on earth is this song doing here? Its a break, you cant spend all day in a pit, so heres that break to grab that glass of water and take a breath. This is a wonderfully chill song that still has a heavy beat.
Stress by Justice
You had your chance to breath, so now its time to get that edge going again. Stress is great because it starts off alright but then dives into a tone that forces you onto the side of your seat, and this is just enough to lead you into…
3/5 Of A Mile In 10 Seconds by Jefferson Airplane
A classic, and often misrepresented. Jefferson Airplane typically wouldn’t be found on this kind of mix, but this live version (from “Bless It’s Pointed Little Head”) has a bunch of energy while still maintaining that Jefferson Airplane sound.
Two Kids by Priestess Priestess
is a great hard rock band, and this song is a slightly toned down version of Children of Bodom, whose name is based off of some kids dying in Lake Bodom and thats the basic plot of this song.
Children In Heat by The Misfits
I wanted to throw in some Misfits and I had thought about putting Last Caress, but what a typical song. So I decided on Children in Heat because it has interesting lyrics while still being the Misfits, gotta love Danzig.
Vulnerability by Operation Ivy
This is a great Operation Ivy song, the buzz saw guitar is just a wonderful tone that I dont think I have represented adequately.
Cheer It On by Tokyo Police Club
I was thinking about Colin again, so I put in some Tokyo Police Club. I had In A Cave in this slot, but I realized that song is just too chill, and Cheer It On has enough energy while still maintaining that indie appeal.
You’re Gonna Miss Me by The 13th Floor Elevators
I love Roky Erickson, and hence he is here. You don’t like it I can’t blame you, its kind of awkward to switch from Tokyo Police Club to this, but it isn’t terrible.
Pretty Vacant by The Sex Pistols
I know many hate the Sex Pistols, but their energy is undeniable, regardless of their (lack) of music talent. Pretty Vacant is often overlooked due to God Save The Queen and Anarchy In The U.K., so i felt it would be an excellent way to present the Sex Pistols.
Happy Listening.
