Guest Mix #3: ‘Keep Dancing Bitches’ - by connor shea

I GOT ANOTHER ONE! this makes me happy. also I know i’m behind on my own mix so I’ll do my best to get that up tonight. I did kind of get in a car wreck though, so get off my case! bitch.

GO CONNOR:

The mix is called “Keep Dancing Bitches”. The title is sassy because it is a sassy mix (not really tho). It starts more poppy and ends more electronic but I hope that you find it danceable throughout.

Quick Rundown:

1) Huddle Formation – The Go! Team

Fun fact: There are two versions of this song in existence. One from the original UK release and one from the U.S. re-release. The UK version contained a sample which didn’t get cleared for use so they had to remix it on our side of the pond. The version I have included is from the US release. I remember liking the UK one better but I can’t find the mp3 file anywhere on my computer so maybe I changed my mind and deleted it. Either way, this is a really energetic song.

2) Challenge – Japanther

This is a fun song from a fun band. Supposedly they have a cool live show. Apparently they are playing at Emo’s in November.

3) The Inbetweens – Magistrates

Dudes in bands, take note. I enjoy it when you sing falsetto. That is all.

4) Banquet – Bloc Party

Another oldie. I can’t believe there was a time when I used to hate Bloc Party (by which I mean there was a time when I wouldn’t admit to liking Bloc Party).

5) Nayutanized – Avengers in Sci-Fi

I love these guys so much it hurts. More space guitars over dance beats, plz.

6) Sleepy Head – Passion Pit

This song is basically the centerpiece around which I tried to build this entire playlist. I’ve been jamming to it a lot lately as it contains all three of my requirements for a jam of this nature. Those being: a pretty simple beat, some synth work and a dude singing in falsetto. I am a man of simple tastes.

7) Nature of the Experiment (RAC Remix) – Tokyo Police Club

It could probably be successfully argued that this is a completely unnecessary remix but I still like it a lot. Yes, even the robot voice at the end. (I actually think the drums on this song are way awesome).

8) Pogo – Digitalism

I personally haven’t overplayed this song too much but it won’t hurt my feelings if you skip it because you have.

9) Star Guitar – Shinichi Osawa

Shinichi Osawa is a very recent obsession of me and out of all the songs on this mix this is the newest one for me. I almost added his remix of Pogo instead of the original and I would’ve if it weren’t for the fact that it’s about twice as long (and to be honest there isn’t that much difference between them beyond length).

10) Divine (Danger) – Sebastian Tellier

Sebastian Tellier’s ablum Sexuality has some of the greatest album art of all time. Also, Danger makes it hot for the club.

11) Dreamhunt (Shinichi Osawa Remix) – Rubies

Here’s Mr. Osawa again. For the record, this is the song that kicked off the aforementioned obsession with the man’s work. It’s a very frustrating song though because just as it really gets bumpin’ at the end it’s over. So it goes.

—-thank you Mr. Shea
